On selected Fridays, generally the second and fourth Fridays of the month, we offer students a flexible scheduling option. We ignore the regular bell schedule, and students are able to independently pace themselves in their four core area classes. When all of the students’ assignments are complete, they have many options: they may work on longer projects, get extra help, read in the LMC, work on service learning projects, or get caught up on missing work. Any homework that is not finished during the flex Friday time is homework and due on the following school day, unless otherwise indicated. Students enjoy this time because they are allowed more freedom. Teachers and parents see the benefits of independent pacing in students' organization and time management skills. We also hold book club meetings and PRIDE meetings on Flex Fridays.
